Always ethically sourced, each of Thurston Reed’s pillows are designed by Nicholas and Sarah and are manufactured at a small factory in India using luxurious fabrics—deep pile silk velvet, 100% silk and 100% raw silk, and soft linens and cottons—that are hand dyed to meet our colour specifications. Our fabrics are cut, sewn, and hand-finished using applications and finishing techniques ranging from embroidery to appliqués to block printing. These finishes require a high level of artisanal detail work and because each pillow is hand-finished, no two are exactly alike.
We’re proud of the personal relationships we maintain with the people who craft our products and share our vision. We travel to India on a regular basis to meet with craftspeople, select fabrics, match and oversee colour selection and trial different techniques and finishes. Additionally, our factory undergoes—and is required to pass—annual third party audits focused on environmental compliance, safe working conditions, and fair pay.
We do our best to make sure our products are fair in their creation and beautiful in your home. If our methods of production or sourcing change, we will share those updates with you right here.
